Clara Gerdes, from Davidson, N.C., is a fourth-year student at the Curtis Institute where she studies organ with Alan Morrison and harpsichord with Leon Schelhase. She was the winner of the Albert Schweitzer and UNCSA School of the Arts organ competitions and the recipient of the first annual AGO Pogorzelski-Yankee scholarship. She has performed on the East Coast, including at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Washington National Cathedral, and at Spoleto and the Oregon Bach Festival. Clara serves as one of two organ scholars at St. Mark’s Church, Locust Street, Philadelphia, and enjoys collaborating with area early music ensembles and occasional substitute duties on the Wanamaker organ. She is a Curtis resident assistant.
