Dr. Lara West earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a Master of Music degree in church music from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Her lecture-recital focused on the organ works of Hugo Distler. Dr. West directs the Liturgical Choir and teaches Music Appreciation, World Music, Functional Keyboard, and organ at Benedictine College. She also serves as Organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, Kansas. Dr. West studied church music and worked as a church musician in Germany, and continues to enjoy German language and culture.
