The mission of the Task Force on Denominational Music Organizations is “to identify opportunities for cooperation and support between the AGO and denominational music organizations." The task force is made up of representatives from the leading denominational music organizations within AGO membership - the Association of Anglican Musicians, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, and the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts.

There are many challenges that face all of our church music affiliations. By working together in a collaborative manner, we hope to promote and strengthen the impact of our various programs, which in turn will strengthen our vocation. Some of our ideas have included scheduling time during conventions for members of the various denominational music organizations to meet, inviting the denominational music organizations to submit articles to The American Organist about their events, promoting avenues to reach out to smaller communities and rural areas, mutual recognition of certification between our organizations, and partnerships for a mentorship program. But we want to know what would help you.
This presentation will highlight some of the projects that the task force has worked on and then will open into a time of discussion. How can the AGO and your denominational music organization best serve and enable you to do ministry? What engagement between the AGO and your denomination would be most beneficial to you? We hope you will be a part of the discussion!
