BACH SEMINAR II: Leupold Edition of the Complete Bach Organ Works The New Discoveries in the First Six Volumes

Crown Center Sheraton Hotel - EMPIRE

The editing of the initial volumes of the first American edition of the Bach Complete Organ Works, published by Wayne Leupold Editions, has resulted in a number of surprising discoveries: Previously unknown improvements, in Bach’s hand, to the texts of Clavierübung III, the Schübler Chorales, and the Canonic Variations, new readings for the concerto transcriptions and partitas, and additional insights into the performance of a number of perpetually vexing passages. The present session will be an update on the findings, with illustrations of specific passages and how the new readings broaden our understanding of Bach’s organ works and how we perform them.
