"Remembrance and Reconciliation" Opening Celebration
“Remembrance and Reconciliation”
“This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” ― Leonard Bernstein
We begin the 2018 National Convention by honoring Bernstein’s call to action as we commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War One. The featured artists include speaker and narrator Dr. Matthew Naylor, president and CEO of the National World War I Museum and Memorial, Spire Chamber Ensemble, Festival Brass and Percussion, and Dr. Jan Kraybill playing the magnificent Casavant Frères Organ. Additionally, the world premiere of "Everyone Sang" by Sir James MacMillan will be given. We will also remember long-time AGO member John Obetz.
